How We Excel

Girlbiz

GirlBiz, a NAWBO/EXCEL program, is designed to educate teenage girls about financial independence through one day conferences and workshops that focus on entrepreneurship and economic responsibility.  GirlBiz events introduce young women to women business owners and women in business and allow them to learn about various careers and interact one on one with the women who facilitate each event.  The women business owners and women in business volunteer their time and talent to facilitate.

Our newly redesigned GirlBiz program promises to be more dynamic than ever, giving us wonderful opportunities to demonstrate to our youth the power and potential that they have for great success as leaders!  Newly appointed chairs and committees for GirlBiz have been hard at work designing, creating and executing a program for GirlBiz that we know will have a lasting impact in Southeastern Michigan.

Our goals are to:

  • Teach young women how to “build” four key skills: Purpose, Passion, Power, and Profit.  Building each will enable them to become more personally independent.
  • Provide an exciting educational opportunity for teenage women by introducing engaging key concepts that will lead to both their personal and financial independence.
  • Make the conference memorable, engaging, and authentic through content that focuses on business language, problem solving, role modeling with successful businesswomen, and creating a personal brand--themselves.
